Bird watching in Changqing Reserve

– Home of the Crested Ibis

This tour is designed to give you the best bird watching opportunities Changqing Reserve has to offer. We offer a excellent chance of sighting the Crested Ibis in the wild!!

Huayang Village is located next to Changqing Reserve and will be your base for exploring the Qinling Mountains. The village is very beautiful and has a resident population of Crested Ibis that roost in the village. We will watch the Ibis fly into roost in the evening and depart to feed in the surrounding fields in the morning. We will also observe them during the day feeding in the rice paddies.

We will visit the reserve to try to observe the different bird species that live in the area. The range of elevation 1100m – 2600m means we have a good chance of seeing many different species. Changqing National Nature Reserve has 154 species of birds living within it’s boundaries, 17 of which are endangered. A further 176 species, 13 endangered, are found in the rural area just outside the Reserve. Highlights include the Golden Pheasant, Blood Pheasant, Golden Eagle and Crested Kingfisher.
